Police said they believe the duo also was responsible for an earlier incident Wednesday in Richmond. Click the "Keep me posted" button below for alerts about Albany robberies.

Two robbers in ski masks stopped an Albany man walking near his home on Wednesday night and demanded his wallet and cell phone, police said, then ran off.

A man in his 40s was walking along Portland Avenue at Santa Fe Avenue at about 9:15 p.m. when two males approached him, said Albany Police officer Chris Beck.

Beck said one of the males had a handgun and the other appeared to have something like a club. Both were wearing ski masks.

The victim was walking by himself when the duo came up to him and demanded his wallet and phone.

They told the man to continue walking east without turning around, as they left westbound on Portland.

Beck said, when Albany police called the Richmond Police Department to report the incident, officers determined that the same pair had committed a robbery in Richmond earlier that night.
