Two More Cyclists Injured in March

Earlier this month, we reported in our weekly that officers had . We requested additional information from police, and both turned out to involve cyclists. Sgt. Tom Dolter responded to our request with the following information.
BROKEN COLLARBONE
On March 7, a 65-year-old man went into the to report that he had broken his collarbone in a collision earlier in the day.

He told police he was cycling south on San Pablo Avenue near Washington Avenue when a gray Pontiac Grand Am, or similar vehicle, crowded him into the righthand lane, causing him to collide with both the Pontiac and a parked flatbed truck.
The man spoke with both drivers but didn't exchange information with them.

His boss drove him to the emergency room, and it was determined that his collarbone was broken.
COMPLAINT OF PAIN
On March 10, a 28-year-old Richmond man was riding north on Jackson Street, north of Buchanan Street, near a 41-year-old Albany driver in a Volkswagen Jetta heading the same direction.
At about 2:20 p.m., the two sideswiped each other, causing the cyclist to fall on his left side.
The front tire of the bike was warped and the cyclist complained of pain to the left leg and hand, but did not request medical attention.
Dolter said there were no independent witnesses and both claimed the other person was at fault.
SEVERAL OTHER INJURY ACCIDENTS REPORTED THIS MONTH
Earlier this month, a cyclist and driver collided on Solano Avenue; the cyclist was with a complaint of pain to his arm. Police said it appeared he was at fault because he was passing the driver on the right.
On March 1, a driver turning left onto San Pablo at Brighton . One reported minor injuries and the other none. Neither were taken to the hospital. The driver was determined to be at fault for the collision and cited for failure to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
