Third Time's the Charm for Montero's?

For the third time this year, Montero's has a new look. But its experiment with a new name is over, for now. 

We that owner Juan Romo had hired executive chef Cindy Deetz to turn Montero's Cafe, which served traditional Mexican food, into .

As part of , which included the painting of a stunning mural and the creation of a Frida Kahlo altar inside, Deetz had the outside walls painted white and adorned with small, colorful flowers.

Some of you said you weren't crazy about the new look. As it turns out, you may not have been alone. Recently, bright yellow walls replaced the white ones. 

We stopped in last week to find how just how deep the changes went. A staff member told us that the establishment's name is now back to Montero's, for both and the restaurant on Solano.

Executive Chef Cindy Deetz will remain at the helm. (Which makes me happy, because I must admit that I well enjoyed her tamarind duck tacos not long ago.)

A number of the dishes from the Timbao menu will remain, but several others, from the old Montero's menu, will make a comeback.

The staff member said it already seemed like crowds were picking up, both during the week at the restaurant, and at the club on the weekends.
