Police Calls: 15 Women Fighting, Sex with a Minor, Explosive Canister, More

OCT. 27

4:37 p.m. A woman in a wheelchair called police requesting help getting around sidewalk construction on Pierce Street. 

6:11 p.m. A bicycle was reported stolen from the Albany Bulb two days earlier.

OCT. 28

7:11 a.m. Someone reported loud electric bass guitar on Brighton Avenue. 

10:07 a.m. The police dispatcher "received a call that sounded like a baby was playing with the phone." The dispatcher called back the number and spoke to a mom "who advised that her baby had been playing with her phone."

1:32 p.m. Someone on Adams Street reported a large rabbit living on a second-floor deck "all the time." The caller had tried to report it to Animal Control but was told to call police first.

2:51 p.m. Police arrested John Loran Foston after a report of a battery on Stannage Avenue involving one man punching another. Foston was released on a citation with a promise to appear in court.

3:41 p.m. There was a burglary in the 500 block of Jackston Street.

3:44 p.m. A group of boys with a gun robbed several other boys of a gold necklace in the 1100 block of Garfield Avenue.

Time not available. El Cerrito Police reported arresting Tenzin Choegyal of Albany on suspicion of burglary.

OCT. 29

2:41 a.m. Police arrested Mayra Piceno of San Pablo on suspicion of driving under the influence near Target. She was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail in downtown Oakland. 

12:19 p.m. Police received a report of 15 women fighting in the west parking lot of the Albany Bowl.

11:24 p.m. Police arrested Boldbaatar Genden, 38, of Albany on suspicion of driving under the influence in the 900 block of San Pablo. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail.

OCT. 30

1 p.m. Someone reported finding a 15-inch long canister on Buchanan Street reading "danger, explosive, contact police or military." University of California police, who have a bomb squad, responded to dispose of the canister.

1:33 p.m. Someone reported finding a bench on San Gabriel Avenue after reading that one had been stolen recently nearby.

2:33 p.m. Someone reported an assault the prior night, in the 600 block of San Carlos Avenue, of his or her elderly parents by the caller's sister. The investigation remains underway. 

4:45 p.m. Police arrested Emilio Gallegos of San Francisco on suspicion of public intoxication at Golden Gate Fields. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail.

8:38 p.m. Police arrested 59-year-old Luis Arturo Bustamante of Albany, on suspicion of public intoxication, after receiving a report that a man was lying on the sidewalk across from the police department. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail.

OCT. 31

12:29 a.m. Someone reportedly threw a brick through a window of a home in the 700 block of Madison Street. 

1:02 a.m. Police arrested Kimberly Webb of San Rafael on suspicion of driving under the influence at the west end of Buchanan Street. She was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail.

8:50 a.m. A dentist on San Pablo Avenue reported that someone had thrown a burning $1 bill through his mail slot over the weekend.

9:56 a.m. Someone stole a BMX bike from the 600 block of Madison the prior night.

2:23 p.m. Someone tried to burglarize a home in the 700 block of Calhoun Street, damaging an apartment door.

8:16 p.m. Someone stole a laptop from a garage in the 1000 block of Cornell Avenue. 

8:43 p.m. Someone reported that a man was stealing trash cans from Stannage Avenue, "pulling them down the street toward Marin." 

NOV. 1

7:39 a.m. Police received a report of an injury-accident at Buchanan Street. According to officer Mike Gibson, a vehicle and cyclist were heading west near the Interstate 80 on-ramp when they collided. The cyclist, a 54-year-old man from Berkeley, was wearing a helmet, and the driver, a 55-year-old Berkeley woman, was determined to be at fault but was not cited. The cyclist reported pain in the rib area and was taken to the hospital.

1:38 p.m. Police arrested Jamra Maxwell of Richmond after receiving a report that someone followed his or her teenage daughter home, and was "still standing across the street behind some garbage cans."  Police arrested Maxwell on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child under 18 and possessing a controlled substance. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail.

3:41 p.m. Police received a report of a homeless man lighting garbage on fire on a neighbor's lawn. 

NOV. 2

8:41 p.m. Police arrested Eric Lee Martin, 27, of Albany on suspicion of unlawful intercourse with a minor. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail. Martin remains in custody in Santa Rita Jail with a bail of $25,000. He is set for a pre-trial hearing on Nov. 10.

12:29 p.m. An Albany High School student was reportedly robbed in the 1200 block of Brighton Avenue at 11:50 a.m. 

12:40 p.m. A police officer took a report involving possession of a prohibited weapon at Albany Middle School.

1:31 p.m. Someone broke into a home in the 900 block of Neilson Street through a bedroom window. 

Time not available. The San Jose Police reported arresting Jaien Rogers, 18, of Albany on suspicion of simple assault. He was ticketed at the scene and released.

NOV. 3

6:27 a.m. A student reported receiving threats via bathroom graffiti at Albany High School.

1:37 p.m. Police arrested Rosia Shemil Maxwell at Pierce Street and Solano Avenue on a warrant from an outside agency. She was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail.

10:31 p.m. Police arrested a woman after she drove the wrong way on Buchanan near Interstate 80. 

NOV. 4

12:33 a.m. Someone reported that a residential burglary had occurred earlier in the day in the 1000 block of Kains.

3:25 a.m. An AC Transit driver asked police to remove an unruly passenger from Bus #1070.

6:38 a.m. A man entered a gym in the 600 block of San Pablo, distracted the clerk, then stole a purse from behind the counter.

3:01 p.m. A woman reported an assault at the Albany Bulb.

3:20 .m. Someone reported that a catalytic converter had been stolen from a car parked at the waterfront within the prior hour.

NOV. 5

1:41 a.m. Someone reported a theft from a vehicle at Washington and San Pablo.

8:58 a.m. Police received a report of an injury-accident on Sante Fe. A green Ford and a gray Chrysler were involved in the wreck, and a woman was reportedly "holding (her) knee and back."

1:29 p.m. Police received a report of loud guitar music on Brighton.

1:48 p.m. A woman at the Bulb reported that other people were taking down her encampment and that she felt threatened.

2:34 p.m. A woman on Kains fell and hit her head, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

6:52 p.m. Someone stole a mountain bike from a school bike rack at Cornell Elementary.

7:53 p.m. Police arrested Timothy Patrick McKenna of Berkeley for a warrant from an outside agency after he was reportedly inside a garage cursing to himself. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail.

Time not available. The Yolo County Sheriff's Department reported arresting Michael McWilliams, 58, of Albany on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, transporting or selling a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

NOV. 6

1:23 a.m. Police arrested William McCubbin of Mill Valley on suspicion of driving under the influence at Buchanan and Pierce streets. He was released on a citation with a promise to appear in court.

3:27 a.m. Police recovered a stolen vehicle in the 700 block of Calhoun, and arrested Paulo Pereira of Stockton in connection with the stolen car. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Jail.

10:41 a.m. Someone reported a dead turkey in the road near Ocean View Elementary. Another turkey was said to be roaming around the same area. 

12:14 p.m. Someone stole car keys and a garage door opener from an apartment laundry room in the 900 block of Stannage.

2:10 p.m. Police received a report of a burglary on Cerrito Street.

2:39 p.m. Police arrested Anthony Bougton of Richmond at Bayside Commons in connection with a misdemeanor warrant from an outside agency. He was released on a citation with a promise to appear in court.

2:53 p.m. Someone reported a large cloud of smoke from the Albany Bulb.

3:43 p.m. Security at Golden Gate Fields reported detaining three people in a fight who now needed an ambulance. One or more of them was transported to the hospital.

Time not available. Jim Sandoval of Albany was arrested in connection with public intoxication, according to the BART Police Department.

NOV. 7

8:26 p.m. Someone found a bike in the middle of Cornell.

The only thing it makes me wonder is if you have had the cops come to your house and tell you to turn your music down because it annoys neighbors, then why would you continue to play it at that volume day after day? If it's a bother once, it probably will continue to be. Haven't they heard of headphones? Rudeness prevails. :(

The October 29th report of 15 women fighting in the Albany Bowl parking lot was so incomplete - no reports of citations or warnings or even if the police investigated. I've posted an imagined illustration of the Epic Chick Fight.

Update: Just added some additional information to a Nov. 1 incident in here regarding an injury-accident between a cyclist and a motorist.
