Berlin Style Ping Pong is a bar room twist on the classic paddle game. Teams of 4 circle the table and will begin to play the same way as in traditional table tennis. Here is the twist: after each individual hits the ball the whole group rotates around the table. This creates a constantly changing opponent for each shot as well as and keeps players on their toes.
While this may seem confusing at first, the game is actually pretty basic. Just imagine 12 people standing around a table each holding their own paddles. After the ball is served to one player the person that served will step to his/her left and the individual to their right now stands at the end of the table moves in and awaits the next volley, continuing until there are only two players left. The remaining players will then play a one-on-one match to 3 strikes?
Games will be held at the Albany Community Center every Thursday night, from 7 pm - 9 pm, starting February 6, until March 13th. Drop-in fees are $5.00. Contact Eleanore at eadams@albanyca.org for more information.
