Health & Fitness

After many rhetorical questions, directed at Bulb residents, beginning with the words "Who are you people to...", I thought I'd clarify: Who "We" are...

Who Are We? We are people, just like you (if not a bit more weathered and a bit more leathery). We are Americans. We are society's castaways. We are survivors. We have been counted, but not included. We are not planned for. We are not part of our City's Plan. We *are* part of the same Higher Plan as everyone else. We exist *way* below the poverty line. We live like kings and queens, off of the things that *don't* get donated to an officially recognized charity organization. We sustain ourselves: by scavenging. We are sustainable. We are virtually carbon negative, allowing your carbon-producing lifestyle to *ever* be considered "carbon-neutral". We are anything *but* "lazy". We are hard workers. We are day-and-night laborers. We labor, not out of greed, but out of Love and Gratitude (to this Land we Live on). We are the Landfillscapers who created (and *still* maintain) the paths, on the Bulb, on which you have safely walked, for years. We are perceived as criminals, for existing in such a state of destitution that we were left no choice, but to live outdoors, and in public. We have made the best, out of the worst. We are humble. We are more scared of you, than you are of us... We were told to "Go live at the Landfill" We have lived at the Landfill. We have done *all* of the work that has *ever* been done to improve the Albany Bulb, towards making it "a park". We are those whom "the rest of society" had forgotten about, until they saw that years of our hard work has made this land too good for us to continue living on. We have *never* been officially asked for rent. We *have* been told (for years, by officials) that: if we take care of the land and keep it safe, we could *stay* on the Bulb. We are happy, where we have been: for years. We are Albany residents. We are registered Albany voters. We are 21st century urban pioneers. We exist on the forefront of the Earth's accelerated climate change. We notice things like the changing tides, rising sea-levels, and the changing of the seasons. We are the ones most concerned with the trees and the wildlife: Their homes and our homes coexist, in harmony. We are spiritual beings, that exist in a spiritual realm called: The Bulb. We ask for nothing, but for you to let us be. We have settled. We are embedded. We are happy, where others feel we should be depressed. We live and recreate, where others recreate; in a place where others feel they *might* recreate... if only we didn't live here. We are not perfect... But, neither are you. We don't wish for anyone to be "homeless". We call the Albany Bulb "Home"
