Albany High School Theater Ensemble takes one of the most notorious plays about teenage angst, “Romeo and Juliet” and places it in a post-apocalyptic industrial wasteland where society has devolved into a tribal clan system and where remnants of bygone eras have been patched together to form a pastiche of visual elements. With street fights erupting with frightening frequency, the Prince struggles to maintain control of her failing city. But the teens in Verona are driven by a deeper discontent than any of the adults can fully understand or ultimately prevent from throwing the city into further tragedy. Once again, the amazing Gail Starr has led a student costume crew in creating a steam-punk-inspired look. Professional fight choreography by Cyle Connely and tech direction from Sarah Samonsky combined with Andrea Hart’s direction and the amazing actors and technicians of the Theater Ensemble combine to make this one you won’t want to miss.
