On Wednesday, September 12, the Saint Mary’s High School Varsity Cross Country team participated in a day of running and teaching with Piedmont's Corpus Christi elementary and middle school teams at Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland. Designed to teach the students elements of racing, race strategy, proper biomechanics and core strength training, the afternoon also produced plenty of smiles, laughs and good times from both teams. The hour and a half practice culminated in a raffle that sent a score of Corpus Christi Comets home donning Panther gear. All in all, the entire experience was instructional, educational and exemplified the spirit of positive Catholic teachings. The Panthers would like to thank head Corpus Christi coach Mary Tarczynski and all the students from the Corpus Christi team for their cooperation, friendliness and good spirit!
Story shared by Jeff Rogers and Denis Mohun, Saint Mary's High Cross Country coaches and history and math faculty, respectively.
