Final Weekend for The Wiz at Saint Mary's

Ease on down the road (Albina or Posen Avenues) to Saint Mary’s High this weekend for the final two performances of “The Wiz.”  Shows are at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are available at the door: $10 adults 18 and over, and $8 students and youth under 18.  School alumni will be on hand for the Friday performance, including film and television actor Russell Hornsby, Class of 1992, who decided on an acting career after his own participation in “The Wiz” on the Saint Mary’s stage during his high school years.

The annual Career Paths & Journeys event for Saint Mary’s juniors and seniors on April 4 brought a number of alumni back to campus.  Among them was Arizona Cardinals' Lorenzo Alexander, Saint Mary’s Class of 2001, who that same weekend hosted a fundraiser for his ACES Foundation in Oakland at Albany Bowl.

Author and founder of “Pencils of Promise,” Adam Braun, spoke to Saint Mary’s students in March about his book, “The Promise of a Pencil.”  Braun left a career on Wall Street to eventually build 200 schools around the world.  Braun signed copies of his books for students.

Saint Mary's sends best wishes to Class of 2012 alumna Irene Wilson, recently named one of two 2014 United States Bowling Congress Youth Ambassadors of the Year. Irene is an honor student at Dominican College in San Rafael.
