Lost and Home Again in 3 Hours

Husband woke me up on Thursday morning asking, "Where's your car?"  Not, apparently, where I had left it, on Stannage, in front of our house.  Yes, my old beloved Accord had been stolen overnight.  In disbelief, I called our son and told him the news. Albany cops, polite and friendly, came to the house and asked a lot of questions. While they were here, husband's cell rang and he took the call out on the back deck.  He came back inside and and told us that Oakland Fire had called and that they had found my car! OFD had responded to a medical :"person slumped over a steering wheel".  Turns out, that was MY steering wheel, in MY Honda.  When they approached the slumpee, he bolted awake and ran off. Firefighters found a receipt on the back seat of my car that had my son's cell # on it and they called him.  He told them, "That's my mom's car and it's been stolen!"  So the firefighters called us.  An Oakland police officer, responding to the scene, near the Grand Lake Theater, kindly waited for me and my husband to get there to pick up my car.  The car was fine!  Inside were some black leather high tops and a creepy knife that the cop removed wearing latex gloves.  I'm now the owner of a Club and thus a member of Closing the Barn Door Dummies.  Cheers to our fine public servants!
