Whats that smell?

Wondering if anyone knows what was in the air Tuesday night the 13th? I drove from Albany to Emeryville and a very dry smell was there and I still smelled it when I came home? Hard to explain the smell, it is making my throat dry and want to cough. I am closing all the windows.
