BART: Independence Day Schedule, Free Parking

BART will run on its Sunday schedule Monday, July 4, with extra evening trains for those attending fireworks. Fee and permit requirements for BART parking lots won't be enforced.

BART trains on Monday, the Independence Day holiday, will operate on a Sunday schedule, with service beginning around 8 a.m., BART officials said.

Extra trains will ready for crowds attending the fireworks display in San Francisco, and longer trains will be in service for two baseball games: the Oakland A's vs. Seattle Mariners starting at 1:05 p.m., and the San Francisco Giants vs. San Diego Padres game starting at 2:05 p.m.

BART said its deployment for extra fireworks trains depends on the weather.

"Attendance at the fireworks show tends to be dependent upon the weather, so system managers will be monitoring ridership to determine how many extra trains are needed," BART said.

The transit agency urges patrons to buy roundtrip tickets to avoid lines at ticket machines after special events, or get a Clipper card.

Monday, being July 4, is a BART parking holiday. Parking permit and fee requirements will not be enforced in BART lots and garages. Those  planning to use long-term parking over the weekend, BART said, should note that long-term spots must be reserved by visiting www.bart.gov/parking. A long-term permit cannot be purchased at the station.
