Letter: Albany Historical Society Hosts Second Storytelling Event

Were you a member of an Albany Scout Troop or Pack or were you a member of Camp Fire? If you were in a youth group in Albany's past, share your stories in this event.

The will host its second storytelling event on Sunday, May 22, at the amphitheater at . Jack Rosano will be the MC of this sharing of tales from past Albany youth groups, focusing on Blue Birds, Boy Scouts, Brownies, Camp Fire, Cub Scouts, Girl Scoutsand Sea Scouts.

Some of the presenters sharing their stories will be Walt Corvello, George Fosselius, Eldon Wolf, Beth Pun, Marge Keck, Peter Schakow, Jewel Okawachi and Joan Larson.

This is an opportunity for past, current and future members of these youth organizations to remember good times and also to learn about these groups and the influences they had on Albany. Featured will be projects and volunteer services provided to the citizens of Albany by these young people.

This storytelling event will be held between 2 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at the University Village amphitheater on the corner of Jackson and Eighth streets. Light refreshments will be available.

The Albany Historical Society hopes to see many former Scouts and Camp Fire members as well as current members and those who may be interested in learning what wonderful services these groups provide both to individual members and the local community.
