FAL grossed $7,229 – for about 12,000 books - in 12 frenzied hours.  After the sale, FAL Board member Marsha Skinner made appointments with representatives of various nonprofits to take unsold items.

Beneficiaries included U.S. Army troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, African schools in Uganda and other countries, Nevis and St. Kitts, a local art teacher, San Francisco Jail, St. Vincent de Paul, Springville and Strathmore ( Tulare County) libraries.

Recycling donated books is the ultimate green, and a time-honored tradition in book-loving Albany.

FAL thanks the many volunteers, donors, patrons and ever-helpful library and city staff. Join us for our next sale Sat Sept. 24, 10 a.m. t0 4, at the . Learn more at friendsalbanycalibrary.com.
