NFL Star Lorenzo Alexander is going from the NFC Pro Bowl to the bowling alley to hopefully strike big for his local charity.
For the fifth year, Alexander is hosting a celebrity bowling party at Albany Bowl on Saturday, March 23 to benefit his "ACES" Foundation (Accountability, Community, Education, Sport) which provides enrichment programs for youth in both the East Bay the Greater Washington DC Area.
The foundation's overall goal is to inspire youth to "obtain a higher education, pursue a career, maintain a strong family unit and then give back to their community."
"It's a great time — meet some local celebrities and stars and make a change in the community," said Washington Redskins player.
Fellow NFL stars Marsahwn Lynch and Thomas Decoud also plan to make appearances during the bowling tournament.
Last year's event brought $5,000 to the foundation which was used for school supplies and the different programs offered. This year, Alexander hopes to double that.
While attending UC Berkeley, Alexander said he and his teammates spent a lot of time at Albany Bowl and he eventually formed a friendship with the owner. He said it's the perfect atmosphere to host his event.
A silent auction will follow the bowling tournament.
Bowling tournament tickets can be purchased here: http://acesbowling2013.eventbrite.com/#. Participants are asked to register for between 4 to 5:15 p.m. The tournament starts promptly at 5:30 p.m.
