People, Turkeys Flock to Albany Library Book Sale

If you think the printed word is gradually disappearing in the rearview mirror of the digital age, you probably weren't at the Albany Library Saturday, when the 50-cent book sale drew a swarm of book seekers.

Humans weren't the only creatures who flocked to the Albany Library Saturday for the 50-cent book sale.

A large gang of turkeys turned up first thing in the morning, organizers said. But evidently finding nothing to suit their taste, the big birds soon departed.

People continued to stream in as the sale did a brisk business. The event, which ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., was sponsored by the Friends of the Albany Library to help support the library.
