Seen Around Lamorinda: Messages for Brett Olson

Lafayette looks for ways to say goodbye to one of its own.

Most Lafayette residents don't want to talk about this week's loss of a true native son. Various messages have popped up around town, left in flour on a hillside overlooking his high school or scrawled in crayon and craft paper and pinned to a signpost.

Memorial service scheduled for Tuesday night, 7 p.m. at Acalanes. Olson grew up playing on Lafayette's sports courts and in his latter years allowed his inner actor to shine in high school stage productions.

The town has taken his death to heart. Monday night's city council meeting was adjourned in his memory.

Was nice seeing the Lafayette Elementary sign as I drove down Moraga Rd.

It's been a rough week around here. Just as we were learning about a CHP officer being shot in the line of duty, we were also reading that a young man from our town was missing. Sadly, both events had tragic outcomes. I could do without any more weeks like this. My heartfelt sympathies go out to both families who lost a loved one this past week.
