Weekend Things: Angelus, Bike About Town, Shooting Hoops and More

The much anticipated Bike About Town takes its first summer ride on Saturday, but there are a few more events to keep in mind this weekend.

FRIDAY


This six-member women's vocal group spans genres and historical periods from medieval chants to Jewish traditional songs. In all instances their repertoire consists of sacred songs and their voices might be a perfect fit for the acoustics of St. Alban's Church.

How much: $10 (suggested donation)


If last Sunday's bike race was a bit much for you to handle, you'll be glad to know you can take a leisurely ride around Albany with your neighbors. You might not have time to catch your breath because an after-party will be waiting for you with live entertainment, food and local business discounts.

SATURDAY


If you haven't helped out with a weeding, cleaning and restoration party around town before, you're missing out on a great opportunity to learn a few new skills, hang out with good people and, of course, contribute something positive to your community. So grab your sturdy shoes, and your enthusiasm, and head to Codornices Creek on Saturday morning.

With great songs like "Everything's Alright" and "Jesus Christ Superstar," this show pleases both musical theater enthusiasts and rock music fans. by the the Youth Musical Theater Program includes several young Albany residents and features great set design and costumes. The show runs through July 30.

When: Friday-Sunday, 7:30 p.m.
How much: $12-$22

SUNDAY


For just five bucks you can put your dunking (okay, maybe just dribbling) skills to the test with your neighbors in Albany at . Whatever your skill level, this group promises to make you feel welcome.
Where: Basketball courts at 1123 Jackson St., Albany
When: Weekly on Sundays, 6:30-8 p.m.
How much: $5 drop-in; $40 semester
