What brings you here to Albany Senior Services today? I'm here to teach my neighbor to knit socks.

Are you here every week? Yes, unless I'm out of town. I live in El Cerrito. I've been coming here maybe four or five years.

I knit whatever – a scarf – to keep busy while I watch TV. These are such nice ladies. It's the process more than the product for me. Oh, that sounds so Berkeley!

Do you come to the Senior Center mainly to knit with this Monday morning group? Yeah, this is the only thing I come here for. This is a small group, and diminishing.

I moved over here eight years ago from Mountain View. I wanted a handicraft group; I just like sitting with women and doing whatever.

How long have you been knitting? I knit argyle socks for my sweeties in high school, so I must have started before that, because they're complicated.

Socks alone are complicated, aren't they? No, not really, only the heel.

Do you hear many stories about Albany history in this group? Not too many Albany history stories, but Fidelia, who's not here today, tells us about Albany history.
