El Cerrito City Hall Gallery Space Features New Exhibit

The City of El Cerrito Arts and Culture Commission presents “Paintings and Prints by Robbin Légère Henderson” in the City Hall Gallery Space from May 12 through June 30, 2014.

About her work, Robbin Légère Henderson explained, “The eye sees differently from the way a camera sees, so I usually work directly from nature without the use of photography. The work is more about feeling than about the specific scene depicted. My process is sensual and intuitive, not particularly cerebral. Clearly, Japanese screen painting and printmaking influence my work.”

The exhibit at the El Cerrito City Hall Gallery Space includes eight recent prints, four paintings, and one scratchboard drawing. Her works often depicts the natural world and “intrusions” by cultural artifacts like a road, a fence, barbed wire, a power pole. Henderson says she often tries to communicate connection, peace, vulnerability, majesty and solace through her works.
