Local Theater's Dog-Admission Day Sent to Doghouse

A bring-your-dog-to-movies matinee at Oakland's New Parkway theater today was nixed by Alameda County health officials, apparently for health and sanitation issues. Do you think dogs could or should be admitted subject to proper precautions?

An Oakland movie theater tried to make that happen, but their plan was given two thumbs down by the county.

Alameda County health officials told the owners of the New Parkway theater they could not allow dogs into their movie house for today's Saturday afternoon matinee.

It appears the denial was centered around cleanliness and the food concessions.

The event will now be a fundraiser, with the proceeds from the 3 p.m. showing (without dogs) going to a local animal shelter.
