Golden Gate Fields Cancels 'Bottomless Saturdays'

After employees and community members expressed extreme displeasure with the all-you-can-drink event, the racetrack announced it is pulling the plug on this promotion.

Golden Gate Fields announced that it has canceled its "Bottomless Saturday" promotion allowing participants to drink unlimited well drinks for a $30 admission.

After employees and community members have expressed displeasure with it, the racetrack announced on its website that it has pulled the plug on this promotion:

Golden Gate Fields, in acknowledgement of the concerns of some of its employees and some members of the community, has cancelled the Bottomless Saturdays promotion.  We thank everyone for their input and interest in Golden Gate Fields.  We'll see you at the races!

It was supposed to debut this Saturday, April 20 to bring a younger crowd to the races. It would offer an all-you-can-drink deal for $30 that allows race patrons to consume as much liquor as they can handle from 12 to 5 p.m.

Golden Gate Fields marketing boss Dan Cirimele told SF Gate that the racetrack is there to "entertain the community," and if folks get upset, "then we are going to take their concerns seriously — and that’s what we have done."
