Jodie's Restaurant Makes a 'Top Ten' List

Can a six-seat diner handle more customers?

Jodie's Restaurant, the tiny breakfast-and-lunch spot on Masonic Avenue, may not be a secret to the Albany residents who head there regularly for down-home food: fred chicken, grits, buttermilk pancakes.

But it's a "hidden gem" to the East Bay Express, which listed Jodie's as one of 10 noteworthy neighborhood restaurants in its annual Insiders' Guide, published today.

"For 24 years, Jodie Royston, the garrulous owner, has been charming the pants off of every man, woman, and child who sets foot inside his humble digs, but it's his food that keeps the steady crew of regulars coming back," the Express reports.
