has long been a showcase for fine local arts and crafts. But we believe that everyone has the potential to create art—and that creativity is necessary to nourish the spirit. Also—it’s a lot of fun! So we are beginning a program of sponsoring free (donations welcome!) , to encourage the Artist in everyone.
Last Saturday, we held the , in the open space next to the Gallery (where the Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Tree lots are, seasonally). Inspired and coordinated by an energetic young artist and musician, Heather Van Cleve, we set out blank ceramic tiles, paints and brushes, and hoped some potential artists would appear. And they did! Check out the photos for some sweet portraits of young, very young and older participants. Their expressions are priceless.
Funded by the donations from this first class, we plan to hold the next one in two weeks, on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Find out more on our website, www.albanyartsgallery.com, on our Facebook page or call us at 510-526-9558.
