Safeway Plans to Come Wednesday

A new edition of Safeway's plans for its Solano Avenue store will be revealed to the public Wednesday evening at Northbrae Community Church. Click the "Keep me posted" button below this story for updates when we cover this topic.

The memo below went out Friday as a reminder about this week's Safeway meeting with store representatives. 

The project for a has been in development since 2008, and has been through several iterations. It last appeared before the city's . 

Store reps that was slated to focus on environmental impacts associated with the project.

Safeway hopes to update and rebuild its , which many community members have said desperately needs improvement. (Scroll down to take our poll about the project.)

The store has struggled to come up with a plan that meets its goals and works for nearby neighbors and the community as a whole. Truck loading and unloading logistics have posed a particular challenge for designers.

Safeway has said it will submit new plans to the city of Albany on Thursday. Official city meetings will be scheduled after the plans are turned in. (See the here.)

The 2012 plans have not been made available in advance of Wednesday's meeting.
