Tell Us About Your Cell Phone Experience in Albany

A recent question posed on Albany Patch led to a slew of comments on the site and on Facebook.

Reader Ken Poe recently asked, , about cell phone reception in Albany:

"I get the WORST AT&T cell reception at my house (of course). When I talk to AT&T they say they can't put more cell towers in Albany due to city politics. What is going on? Don't tell me it's about unfounded, irrational fears of supposed microwave exposure. Give me a break."

Several people responded to his question on Patch, and a number of others responded on Facebook. (See the Albany Patch Facebook page here, and "like" it to stay in the loop.)

On Facebook, Ingrid Nelberg Klopp wrote, "I can SEE the ATT Uverse wireless box from my house and have AT&T cellular service yet am unable to get more than 3 bars."

Jo-Anna Pippen said, "I have horrible reception on Albany Hill. And yes, I have AT&T."

To the gripes about AT&T, Ken Wan responded, "That's why I switched to Verizon!"

The Planning & Zoning Commission will be hearing soon about a cell tower on San Pablo Avenue one company has been asking to improve.

We hope to have a reporter get some answers from the cell company about exactly why service is so bad.
