Cafeina! I'm sorry, but I've heard from many people who have been there and agree that even though 123 is located in a charming garden, they just don't have decent coffee, and the garden is probably the reason people don't notice. Also Zand's, Gathering Tribes, and Toy-Go Round should have been up there!

Albany Arts Gallery! We were voted "Best Place to Buy Gifts" by Albany Patch readers. We've been around for over 20 years, featuring the best locally hand-made fine art and crafts.

What a complete joke. First only 3 of the 8 businesses are in Albany and classically one of those is a nail salon. There are no businesses below Key Route which is generally more well lit and pedestrian friendly. I love the Bone Room but what about Gathering Tribes, Five Little Monkeys, Albany Arts Gallery, Toy Go Round. Where is Cugini, Little Star Pizza, As You Wish, Cafe Raj, or Jodies? And Cafeina has superior coffee and food compaired to Local 123. Saturday morning breakfasts at Cafeina are to die for! And where is Sunnyside Cafe, Bistro 1491, Fonda, The Pub, Zands, Eunice Gourmet, Fish First, Royal Ground, and perhaps the best burrito on the planet Gordos?

You got to be kidding? Local 123 at Flowerland beats Cafeina or any coffee place in Albany hands down. Not even close.

ARG! My <favorite/least favorite> place to consume <insert product/service> is <superior/inferior> to your <favorite/least favorite> place!

Yelp, What a Total Joke! "real extortionists, real manipulated reviews", just Google "yelp extortion" to find out how yelp manipulates your reviews to extort money from small businesses.

The focus of the list is Solano Avenue businesses, not specifically those in Albany. Also I think their intent was to call out businesses which are distinctive enough to warrant a trip from people who live in other parts of the bay. That would explain things like The Bone Room, Local 123 @ Flowerland and Ajanta. The other businesses you name, while excellent, are probably a bit easier to find peers for in other neighborhoods. For example, Sunnyside is a great neighborhood breakfast spot, but many other neighborhoods have a good equivalent, but Ajanta is uncommonly upscale for an Indian restaurant.
