3.6 Quake Shakes East Bay Late Tuesday Night
At approximately 11:36 p.m. an earthquake on the Hayward Fault jolted much of the East Bay, including Albany.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey a magnitude-3.6 earthquake jolted the East Bay late Tuesday night just after 11:35 p.m. A magnitude-2.3 aftershock gave the area another jolt at 11:42 p.m.
The quake came nearly 12 hours after a 5.8 earthquake surprised the East Coast about 38 miles outside of Richmond, VA.
The Bay Area quake had a depth of approximately 5.7 miles with the epicenter located on the Hayward Fault about three miles northeast of San Leandro.
