The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.1-magnitude earthquake at 2:52 p.m., with an epicenter below Highway 24, just west of the Caldecott Tunnel in Oakland.
(Editor's note: This report was downgraded from a 3.2 to a 3.1 after its initial seismic review.)
It's the first earthquake above a magnitude 3 in the area since a nerves in October.
