Foreclosed Homes: How Many in Albany and in What Areas?

Realty Trac releases the latest information on number of foreclosures and how many are for sale.

Albany has 25 homes still in some stage of foreclosure, according to information released today by Realty Trac. Of those, two are for sale.

Foreclosed homes appear to be getting cleared from the market. Between August 1 and March 31, there were 134 foreclosed homes sold in Albany.

Overall, the number of properties receiving a foreclosure filing fell 62 percent from the previous month and were 50 percent less than a year ago.

The Realty Trac website also contains a list of the foreclosure home now sitting in Albany.

Here are the foreclosure figures for communities in Alameda County. The numbers are current through April 30. The recently sold figures are from August 2012 to March 31, 2013. Current foreclosures don't include homes recently sold.

I see one explicit error ("Between August 1 and March 31, there were 543 foreclosed homes sold in Albany"... that number was for Alameda, not Albany... the number for Albany was 134), but I strongly suspect that that last column is not (as stated) "foreclosed homes recently sold," but just "all homes recently sold." Do we really think that foreclosed homes were sold in Albany at am average rate of 16 a month? Sounds much more likely to be for all homes sold.

Hi, Ross... thanks for pointing that out. That error in the story has been fixed. We'll double check with Realty Trac, but our understanding is that is the number of foreclosed homes sold.

Hi, Ross... a folo... it does appear you are correct, so the story has been changed to reflect the numbers that pertain to all homes and not just foreclosures. Thanks for pointing this out.
