Video: Berkeley Lab Meeting in Alameda Draws Over-Capacity Crowd

It was standing room only Wednesday night in the Auctions by the Bay Theatre. A fire marshal redirected the crowd to an overflow room.

At a community BBQ and informational meeting in Alameda on Wednesday evening, the first in a  being held at the potential lab sites, representatives of LBNL explained  for in a site, and city officials detailed .

After the formal presentation, and in a harmony uncharacteristic of Alameda politics, dozens of speakers from a range of community and civic groups voiced their support for the development. 

Lab reps say they hope to select the final site by November 2011.

Albany's meeting with the lab is coming Aug. 3, following several meetings run by the city over the weekend of July 30. .
