Where Do You Fill Up in Albany When Gas Prices Shoot Up?

Pump prices in the East Bay have risen 58 cents per gallon the past month. Where do you fill up?

Now that gasoline has jumped more than a half dollar a gallon, is there a station you've found in the Albany area that isn't as expensive as the others?

Let us know in the comments. Your neighbors will appreciate it.

The commute page on Albany Patch shows an array of prices around town. A cheap price can be difficult to find.

In California, gasoline prices have risen 57 cents per gallon the past month to an average of $4.22 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

In the East Bay, gas prices have increased 58 cents the past month to $4.15 for a gallon of unleaded regular. That price is up 16 cents in the past week.

Why have gasoline prices risen so sharply? Is it seasonal? Is it supply and demand? Is it manufactured? Here's one blogger's opinion. Give us your thoughts in the comments section.

A few random thoughts: I usually go to the station at the top of Solano. Cheaper than most. The ARCO at the bottom of Marin is always the cheapest in town, but getting in and out of there is annoying. I miss Esso and Sunoco brands, which fed my VW when I was younger. I've always thought the name Valero was really cheesy, and for that reason alone I avoid it. The Valero at the top of Univ Ave in Berkeley is selling gas (or not selling gas) for $4.90 a gallon! This question about where do you buy gas appears on a couple Patch sites nearby: El Cerrito, Berkeley. I guess the editors are in regional cahoots. In my hometown-area Patches in northern NJ (West Orange, Livingston), the theme question is 'Where to celebrate Purim?" You could ask the same question around here I suppose, but maybe the gas issue is of more concern.

Right, Peter - "Valero" always makes me think of that old song "Volare." Cheesy is right!

I fill up at Albany Hill Mini Mart (San Pablo & Washington). They seem to always have the same low price as ARCO if you pay with cash and never have a problem waiting for a pump. Today it was $4.09. I don't have a Costco card, but I hear it's usually the cheapest there.

Funny Winnie. Gas is still under $3.00 a gallon here in Mexico.
