Community Corner

Complete Streets Drop-in Design Workshop and Walk Audits

Please join the City of Albany at this drop-in hands-on open studio event. Community members will have a chance to provide design input in the studio. Dan Burden will provide a training presentation on design tools and strategies to consider, and then break into small groups around table maps to develop ideas for improvements. Walking tours of San Pablo Avenue and Buchanan Street will start off in the morning with members of the project consultant team. Participants will observe and discuss walking, bicycling, transit, driving and streetscape conditions. Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The consultant team will set up a work studio next to City Hall in the days that follow, testing and processing your input along with other planning data and research, and generate proposed design solutions that balance the needs of all types of travel modes and users of all ages and abilities.

This is the second of three public events put on by the City of Albany, in partnership with the Local Government Commission and Nelson/Nygaard Consultants. These three community workshops and design activities are aimed at exploring ways to make it easier and safer to walk, bike, ride the bus, and drive along San Pablo Avenue and Buchanan Street. Children are encouraged to participate in this event. Light refreshments will be provided. Please call (510) 528-5760 or visit our website for more information.
