Benefit game for San Jose State

Public officials, public safety personnel and business figures from around the East Bay will be on the field for a friendly game of softball.

The charity game has been organized by West Contra Costa school district board member Tony Thurmond.  The game will benefit a scholarship fund in memory of his brother and will assists students who want to attend San Jose State.

Players committed to play include Richmond Councilwoman Ludmyrna Lopez, San Pablo Councilwoman Arturo Cruz, Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner, personnel from the Richmond police and fire departments and the county fire district, and employees of Mechanics Bank and the Chevron Richmond Refinery.
