Goats vs. Turkeys? Welcome to Albany!

Legalize Goats? Why not? Illustrated...

Personally, I welcome the goats. Fences, landscaping, outbuildings and eventually our houses will fall to the relentless chewing. Afterwards, with helpful guidance from our friends in the Sierra Club, we can reclaim a sustainable ecology of native grasslands and coastal oaks.

And remember, that sustainable Albany should include no more than maybe 200 humans!

On Monday, I came jamming out of my driveway at 8:45 (yes sorry) on Francis Street. As I got to Neilson, I looked left and there was a guy running up the street -- and it looked like about 10 turkeys were chasing him. I offered him a ride. At that point, a car came south on Neilson. The frightened driver slammed on her brakes as the turkeys finished crossing the road. We just all have to watch out for wild animals in our neighborhood. Goats, turkeys, deer, coyotes -- maybe that will lead to a reduction in the number of humans as D. Mehrten informs us of the requirement of only 200. Gloria Burt
