No Need For Gun Control - Arm the Teachers, Armor the Kids, Rush the Shooter

Texas Representative Louis Gohmert and his ilk are advocating more guns and arming teachers, while Texas has made it legal for teachers to carry guns. Megan McArdle at the Daily Beast advocates teaching children to rush the shooter. Sales of personal armor for children are breaking all records.

My humor gravitates toward parody and satire by illustrating ideas or cultural phenomena brought to an absurd extreme. It is getting difficult as reality outstrips any absurdities I might project on it. Gun control... increasingly, the second amendment and other people's guns control our lives. Elderly people in most neighborhoods are prisoners in their apartments. Our children afraid to go outside, and now, even to school. Is this what freedom looks like?

George W. Bush was president when firearms advocates in congress split the Bureau of Firearms and Tabacco from the Treasury department. Since then it has never had a leader, with every single nominated director blocked by pro-gun congressmen, even Bush's appointee. Staffing is skeletal. New regulations may be needed, but we should start enforcing the laws we have.
