I've seen my Patch contributions about national politics get much less attention than those concerned with local issues. I hope this doesn't mean that other members of the community don't see the direct link between what has been going on in Washington and what goes on locally. Communities around the country have struggled with laying off teachers and public-safety workers. In every other recession since World War II, including the Reagan era, the federal government has stepped in with freshly printed money to ease the pain. The current batch of Republican obstructionists, led by Paul Ryan, made that impossible. Assured by our lamestream media of a misinformed and uninformed electorate, they turn around and blame the administration for the pace of the recovery.
The sign on Ryan's chest was revised several times. Those of you who follow the news compulsively know all about Ryan fudging his marathon times in a radio interview. Originally the sign on his shirt said "4<3". Nobody I showed it to "got" the reference, so I finally settled on a rather pedestrian "Lyin' Ryan."
Here's a link to the Runner's World article that first uncovered the deception.
