Goodbye to Daisy, The Grande Dame of Solano Avenue

Our Beagle attracted many fans and admirers in her walks around Albany and I'm very sad to mark her passing. She was six when we moved here from Richmond ten years ago, a year after she beat cancer. She always enjoyed the amenities — taking Agility classes from Nancy Frensley, letting children pet her in Memorial Park, her annual blessing on St. Francis' feast day at St. Albans, and of course her almost daily strolls up and down Solano Avenue. She was hard-wired to check out every restaurant or shop that ever gave her a treat, from Cafeina to the box of dog biscuits behind Andronicos.

I drew this the night we had to say goodbye. Two days before she was out sniffing the flowers, we are grateful that her life was long and her passing was quick. We are also very grateful to our many friends and neighbors who have given so much sympathy and support.
