If you aren't an Albany news junky you might not recognize the principals: Osha "Up Against The Wall" Neumann is astride everybody's favorite camper, Amber Whitson, while ex-mayor Robert Cheasty rides the Sierra Club's Norm "Of Course" La Force. Three of the four are experienced litigators, I hope I don't get sued!
I have trouble taking sides on this issue, not only for fear of annoying my friends and neighbors in our small town. We should protect the commons, but there are other issues here: Albany's history of failure to provide homeless services, the Bulb's genesis as a pile of garbage dumped into the Bay, and Albany's location adjacent to Berkeley, a magnet for the rootless and dispossessed. I found boona cheema's recent column useful - trying to move comfortable campers into bunks in a storage container is probably a waste of limited resources.
