Bay Food Shed: from local gardens to your favorite cafe

Nothing like home-grown fruit and vegetables! The Bay Food Shed helps folks learn to garden and then makes sure the food grown finds a good home on its way to our stomachs. Some of the produce ends up in local restaurants, among them Cafeina and Tay Tah Cafe in Albany and Benchmark Pizzeria in Kensington. If you know others, please note them in the comments.

From the BFS Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/bayfoodshed/info:

"Bay Food Shed grew out of Albany Edible Initiatives in Albany California, launched with the Transition Albany "Great Unleashing" of 2011. Albany Edible Initiatives was designed to connect and grow food and edible initiatives and efforts in the town of Albany.

"Bay Food Shed initiatives include Garden to Table, a program where locally grown produce is donated into locally owned businesses, and Local Lemonade, which sets up free lemonade stands with donated fruit. Both initiatives highlight the abundance of local fruit and vegetables, strengthen community connections, and demonstrate alternate forms of exchange."
