Albany Education Foundation Field Trip Grants Awarded

Students in the Albany Unified School District will soon be jumping on busses or BART participating in a variety of field trips with funds donated by the Albany Education Foundation (AEF).  A total of 34 grants were awarded to all grade levels from kindergarten through 12 in the elementary schools, Albany Middle School and Albany High School.  Included were 31 day trips and 3 overnight trips.  All of the grant applications we received were at least partially funded.  The total amount presented to teachers was over $13,000.

Teachers apply for field trip grants early in the school year for trips to the Oakland Museum, Chabot Space and Science Center, Davies Symphony Hall, John Muir National Historic Site, Martinez, and Lawrence Hall of Science among other places.  Overnight trips include visits to Point Bointa, and performance trips for AMS and AHS musicians. Many of the grants include transportation as well as admission.

This was the first year with an on- line application process and we appreciate the patience of both teachers and administrators as together we learned about the new system.
