2 Albany Bulb Residents Assaulted, Sent to Hospital

At least one person was seriously injured Sunday night when two residents of the Albany Bulb were assaulted by several suspects, police said. Both victims were transported to a hospital.

Two people who live on the Albany Bulb were transported to a hospital Sunday night after being assaulted by several suspects at the Bulb, according to Albany police.

At least one of the victims suffered serious injuries, said Detective Sgt. Art Pagsolingan. Both are now out of the hospital, Pagsolingan said today, Tuesday.

The assaults occurred on the same day that an early morning fire of unknown origin destroyed the Bulb's small makeshift library.

In the assaults case, police were called to the Bulb about 8:20 p.m. shortly after the assaults occurred, Pagsolingan said. He said he is not aware of any weapons having been used.

Four suspects who do not live at the Bulb were involved and were not there when police arrived, he said. No arrests have been made, he said.

He said the victims and suspects are all adults. He said police prefer not to disclose further information about the incident or about the victims and suspects, including their gender, at this time in order to avoid compromising the investigation of the case.

Several dozen people have been living in illegal shelters and tents on the Bulb for a number of years. For more information about the Bulb encampments and city efforts to remove them, see "News Articles & Community Posts about Albany Bulb."
