Albany Teen Robbed, Hit in Face Near Middle School

A 15-year-old boy walking home from was robbed by three other males, and struck in the face, during an afternoon attack earlier this month, authorities said.
The boy, a resident, told police he was walking home on June 7 at about 2:10 p.m. when three males stopped him at Brighton and Cornell avenues, said Lt. John Geissberger of the .
One of the robbers, described as a black 16- to 17-year-old with a thin build wearing a maroon hooded sweatshirt with gray shorts "stepped in front of him and asked if he could use the victim’s phone. The victim gave his phone to the suspect. The victim realized the suspect was not intending on using the phone so he grabbed it out of suspect's hand."

Geissberger said the teen in the sweatshirt then asked to see the phone again and the victim refused, so the robber grabbed the phone out of the other boy's hand, adding, "You got jacked."
The 15-year-old asked for his phone back, and the three refused, saying the boy would have to fight them for it.

"The victim said he started to look around to see if he could find any of his friends that might be in the area," said Geissberger, via email. "As he looked away from the suspects he was hit in the face by one of them."
The trio then left northbound on Cornell.
The second robber was described as black, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a heavy or muscular build, and wearing a light-colored t-shirt and blue jeans. The third male was Asian, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build, and wearing blue jeans and a sweatshirt.
