Anderson Set for Preliminary Hearing Following Molestation Charges
A judge is set to hear arguments on June 8 about whether there is enough evidence in the case against Raymond Anderson to move the matter forward to trial.
After nearly four months with few developments, the district attorney's case against Raymond Anderson has been scheduled for a hearing that could shed light on earlier this year.
Anderson, 60, was charged in February with under 14, according to the Alameda County district attorney's office; the incidents allegedly took place in 1991 and were related to two victims.
Police arrested Anderson in Albany on Feb. 8, and he has remained in custody, at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, since that time with a bail of $500,000.

Anderson's preliminary examination has been set for June 8 at 8:30 a.m., in Department 112, at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
During this type of hearing, a judge can listen to arguments from attorneys, as well as witness testimony and other evidence, to decide whether there is sufficient evidence to move a case forward to trial.

As of Albany Patch's last request for information from the district attorney's office, in late March, Anderson had not yet entered a plea in the case, but was scheduled for a demurrer hearing on May 2. (We will update this story as more information becomes available.)
Anderson, a life-long Albany resident, is well-known in the community for running neighborhood institutions such as the and Christmas tree lot on Solano Avenue. Until his arrest, he was a and has been involved with various business and volunteer organizations in the city.
