Two cars collided early this evening, Friday, at Washington and Ramona avenues in Albany. Two women were taken to a local hospital, one with apparently minor injuries and one with unknown injuries, according to the Albany Fire Department.

Two women were injured about 6:30 p.m. this evening, Friday, when two cars collided at Washington and Ramona Streets in Albany, according to the Albany Fire Department.

One of the victims had apparent minor injuries while the other's injuries were unknown, according to the fire department.

The two women were in a bronze-gray KIA sedan that collided with a black BMW convertible containing a young male and young female, who were standing beside their vehicle after the crash and appeared unhurt. The two women in the KIA remained seated in their car speaking to paramedics before being taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The front of the KIA stopped part way over the curb at the northwest corner of the intersection with its front bumper near the sidewalk. Pieces of trim and plastic from the two vehicles littered the street.

A witness said one of the cars was traveling on Ramona and the other on Washington when the crash occurred.

On Monday, an elderly Oakland driver was transported to the hospital by the Albany Fire Department after his van crashed into the front of Zarri's Delicatessen on Solano Avenue in Albany.
