Description of Suspects in Max's Liquors Robbery

Albany police released descriptions of two men in hoodies wanted in connection with Monday afternoon's holdup of Max's Liquors in Albany. A co-owner suffered a bleeding cut from being hit in the head with a gun.

Albany police on Thursday released a description of the two men suspected of robbing Max's Liquors on Monday afternoon and leaving the co-owner with a bleeding cut from blow to his head with a gun.

Police Lt. Daniel Adams provided the following information to Patch by email:

"The suspects were described as 2 Asian male adults in their 20's.

"One suspect was 5'3"-5"5" tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black jeans, was armed with a small black handgun.

"The other suspect was 5'5-5'7" tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt pulled up over his head, and beanie cap."

According to a store co-owner who was not at present at the time, two robbers entered the business at San Pablo and Solano avenues at 3:42 p.m. and cleaned out the cash register. The gunman also hit a co-owner who was present on the side of the head with a handgun, causing bleeding that soaked his shirt but that did not require stitches, the other owner said.

At one point, when the co-owner had been ordered to his hands and knees by one of the robbers on the opposite side of the store from the counter, a customer came in and asked for cigarettes from the robber who was struggling to open the cash register, the second owner said. The robber accepted $5 as payment and handed the cigarettes to the customer, who left unaware of what was happening, the second owner said.

The robbers grabbed two bottles of Hennessy before they fled, the co-owner said.
