El Cerrito High Junior Killed by BART Train Tuesday Morning

The person killed by a BART train at the El Cerrito del Norte station on Tuesday morning was a 16-year-old junior at El Cerrito High School, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The person killed by a BART train at the El Cerrito del Norte station Tuesday morning was a junior at El Cerrito High School, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The victim was identified as Fausto Delgado, 16, of Richmond, the paper said.

BART police reported at 5:17 a.m. that a person was reported under a train on track #2 at the del Norte station. The fire department confirmed that the person was deceased.

The station was closed while the death was investigated and the body removed. It reopened at 8:06 a.m., according to BART police.

Bay City News Service reported that the death was an apparent suicide.

A spokesman for the West Contra Costa Unified School District said psychologists were at El Cerrito High on Tuesday and at schools attended by the victim's three siblings, the Chronicle reported.
