Extra Albany Police on the Roads Jan 14 and 28

Special traffic enforcement efforts will focus on speeders, stop sign violations, distrated drivers.

Heads up, Albany drivers — the Albany Police Department has two days of special traffic enforcement coming up, according to an APD press release.

On Monday, Jan. 14, extra officers will be assigned to watch for speeders, red light and stop sign violations, and seat belt and child safety seat violations.

Two weeks later, on Monday, Jan. 28, extra officers will watch for distracted drivers who are not using hands-free cell phones or are texting while driving.

Both programs are being funded through a 

$29,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a year-long program aimed at preventing deaths and injuries on the roadways through special enforcement and public awareness efforts.
