Five Charges in Albany Molestation Case

On Tuesday, the district attorney's office released additional information about the 20-year-old molestation charges against Raymond Anderson.

Longtime Albany businessman and active community service participant remains in jail this week following five filed Friday by the Alameda County district attorney's office.

Anderson, 60, was arrested last Wednesday by the following a at his Albany home that began several days earlier, authorities said.

Teresa Drenick, district attorney's office spokeswoman, said Anderson was charged Friday with five felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14; the reported incidents allegedly took place in 1991.

Drenick said the charges were related to two victims; she added that she could not release additional information about the victims due to privacy laws. 

Anderson is being held at Santa Rita Jail with a bail of $500,000, according to the Alameda County inmate locator website.

He had been set to enter a plea on Tuesday, said Drenick, but the plea hearing was continued until Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. in Department 112 at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.

Anderson is well-known around Albany, both as a lifelong resident involved with the Lions Club and Solano Avenue Association, and as the operator of the popular and Christmas tree lots on Solano Avenue. He is also an appointed member of the city's .
