Marin Crash Tuesday Leaves Two Vehicles with Major Damage

Albany Fire Department paramedics responded for an initial complaint of pain, but no one was taken to the hospital.

An accident on Marin Avenue near Evelyn Avenue today, in front of the , involved a four-vehicle pile-up after one vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at the Evelyn crosswalk. 

According to officer Michael Gibson, the incident was reported at 3:06 p.m. (Gibson recently was designated .)

An eastbound vehicle stopped for a pedestrian who wanted to cross northbound at Evelyn, he said, and the two vehicles behind the first one also stopped.

A fourth vehicle then struck the automobile in front of it, causing a chain reaction that led back to the first vehicle.

The responded because there was an initial report of pain, but no one ultimately was taken to the hospital.

Two of the vehicles received serious damage in the collision and were towed, said Gibson.

Gibson said there were no citations as a result of the collision, and neither alcohol nor excessive speed was reported to be a factor. 

"It was just inattention," he said.
